What is Viva Magenta?
Described as brave and fearless by Pantone themselves, according to them, this colour is rooted in nature and intended to signify the mood of the times in terms of our physical and digital progression. This is Pantone’s 2023 colour of the year.
The description above is paraphrased, but you can read the official one here.
For those not familiar with any of this… Pantone Colour Systems presents us with a chosen colour – every year, a different one – based on a concept they’ve created.
And it never disappoints – the colours are always gorgeous and very inspirational.
Lots of creatives, companies, fashion brands, etc, use this as inspiration for ranges and if not that, it’s always, as with many things in the zeitgeist, sartorialised through design and various products, or commodities.
How to decorate with gorgeous Magenta
Magenta, Rhodamine Red, Viva Magenta, or any hot pink for that matter, may be hard for some people to consider decorating with. Especially when you’re into natural palettes. There’s nothing wrong it, in fact, I am a huge fan of that aesthetic too.
Which is why I think maxi-minimalism is such a great go-to aesthetic if you do feel the urge to indulge in some bold, expressive colour, but need to include some neutrality as well.
No points for guessing that I’m a fan of this trend…. hence the name of this blog.
I love bold colour just as much as clarity and a lack of random clutter.
To solve this design problem, maxi-minimalism allows you to have the best of two worlds.
Whether you have a naturally bold aesthetic or personality, or just need some beautiful, bold colour in your life, you can achieve this without worrying about going over-the-top.
You can decorate with vibrant, colourful art against the neutral backdrop of a clean, natural palette. Such balance can bring clarity and focus to your intense, vivid artwork as well as the other home decor that might be playing second fiddle to that.
